Hoy ha salido una nueva versión de bsnes, la v113. Junto a los habituales bugfixes y el asiento anatómico (forense) tenemos estas novedades:

  - added scanline override setting for Suguro Quest++ with the fast PPU renderer

  - disabled HD mode 7 supersampling when EXTBG mode is active, as it is not compatible

  - fixed MSU1 and SGB audio when using run-ahead and overclocking modes

  - implemented correct fix for Kishin Douji Zenki - Tenchi Meidou

  - improved CPU IRQ handling to fix Shin Nihon Pro Wrestling Kouhin '95

  - fixed a GUI typo where "Increment" and "Decrement" "State Slot" labels were reversed

  - fixed audio balance setting when lowering it below 50%

  - added BSC-1A7M-10 board and corrected BSC-1AxM-xx masking (fixes RPG Tsukuru 2 and Sound Novel Tsukuru)

  - improved the driver crash detector to not trip if closing the emulator before initialization could complete

  - added a hotfix to prevent a rare crash in Rendering Ranger R2 that can happen even on real hardware

  - made the entire window support drag-and-drop for gamepaks and game ROM files

  - merged the latest release of SameBoy for improved Super Game Boy support [LIJI]

  - macOS: add hotplug support to IOKit joypad driver [Sintendo]

  - macOS: fixed a serious issue with the IOKit joypad driver [kode54]

  - libretro: updated boards database to the latest version [rtretiakov]

  - libretro: merged Super Game Boy support improvement patch [fr500]

  - small improvements to libco and nall libraries

Añadida sección dedicada al Super Game Boy, el accesorio que permitía jugar (y colorear) juegos de Game Boy en la SNES.

No he añadido cómo emularlo, porque creo que esto sólo es posible con higan, pero no en todas las versiones.

Mesen-S sigue progresando... la última beta ya hace funcionar los juegos de Satellaview, y parece que sin necesidad de BIOS.

Bueno, ha costado un poco pero por fin Mesen-S es compatible con la traducción amateur del Far East of Eden Zero.



Y como ahora también carga los juegos de Satellaview, creo que ya debe haber pocos juegos que no pueda hacer funcionar.

Todo muy bien, aunque con alguna de las betas pude cargar el Far East of Eden: Zero y ahora en cambio no me funciona. Supongo que lo habrán dejado para futuras versiones.

EDITO: Vaaaaaale. Olvidé usar la opción Game --> Power cycle después de cargar el juego. Sí que funciona.

Más avances en Mesen-S... estos últimos días está empezando a emular la Game Boy. No es que vaya a convertirse en multi-emulador ni nada parecido, parece que la idea es emular el Super Game Boy, el dispositivo para jugar cartuchos de GB en la SNES, a veces con mejoras estéticas.

Hace poco se ha publicado el código fuente del Doom para SNES, y ya tenemos incluso algún parche que intenta corregir sus carencias, como la falta de strafing circular. Este vídeo recoge anécdotas y curiosidades sobre el proyecto de llevar a Doom a la SNES.

El primer Sonic en la Super Nintendo?

Parece que si gracias a un usuario que esta desarrollando un port del primer Sonic para la SNES, todavia es muy preliminar, pero se ve bastante interesante, veremos cuando este el juego terminado.

Para lograrlo utilizo los desensambladores de los juegos originales y algunas guias del motor original.

There's nothing special about the Sonic engine that requires a particularly powerful CPU. The scrolling engine is fairly normal, it just updates more tiles per frame than most other engines, but even the NES can handle these scrolling speeds, really.

Parece que no requiere del "Blast Processing" para que vaya bien en la SNES :D
