La ciudad de Lytton, California, era hace veinte años un remanso de paz, una pequeña localidad en la que se podía pasear tranquilamente en las noches de verano, donde la gente podía dejar la puerta de sus casas abierta sin miedo a que nadie allanase sus hogares y donde los padres no tenían porque temer porque sus hijos llegasen sanos y salvos a la escuela.

Pero Lytton ha crecido, a ese que un día fue pacifico pueblo está llegando poco a poco la industria y con ella, forasteros venidos de quien sabe donde. El vecindario se hace día tras día más grande y al contrario que antes, ya no se conoce a quien vive pared con pared. La seguridad de las calles ha disminuido considerablemente y Lytton ha dejado de ser un destino seguro: la causa en gran medida es el mercado de los estupefacientes, que se ha colado como un reptil entre las personas de buena fe que han llegado a la ciudad para labrarse un futuro. Los hijos de los hijos de quienes en su día levantaron con sus esfuerzos la ciudad, yacen ahora en los parques dándose al vicio y a las sustancias alucinógenas. Es bien sabido que la droga engendra crimen a su paso y eso hace que la policía esté más atareada que nunca.

El oficial Sonny Bonds es un protector de la ley modelo. Su inmaculado sentido del deber le ha hecho merecedor del respeto de sus compañeros y del propio Cuerpo, que le ha honrado al nominarle como Oficial del Año. Pero Sonny aún está intranquilo, pues en su amada ciudad el carcinoma que se burla de la justicia tiene un nombre: Death Angel; un peligroso narcotraficante que se zafa de la Autoridad una y otra vez sin que ésta pueda hacer nada para evitar que siga poniendo en las manos de los niños adictivos venenos. El agente Bonds no ve el día en que el camello caiga bajo el yugo de la Justicia y se pudra en prisión. Pero las víboras son muy escapadizas y esta en particular tiene una picadura especialmente mortífera.

Descripción

La ciudad de Lytton, California, era hace veinte años un remanso de paz, una pequeña localidad en la que se podía pasear tranquilamente en las noches de verano, donde la gente podía dejar la puerta de sus casas abierta sin miedo a que nadie allanase sus hogares y donde los padres no tenían porque temer porque sus hijos llegasen sanos y salvos a la escuela.

Pero Lytton ha crecido, a ese que un día fue pacifico pueblo está llegando poco a poco la industria y con ella, forasteros venidos de quien sabe donde. El vecindario se hace día tras día más grande y al contrario que antes, ya no se conoce a quien vive pared con pared. La seguridad de las calles ha disminuido considerablemente y Lytton ha dejado de ser un destino seguro: la causa en gran medida es el mercado de los estupefacientes, que se ha colado como un reptil entre las personas de buena fe que han llegado a la ciudad para labrarse un futuro. Los hijos de los hijos de quienes en su día levantaron con sus esfuerzos la ciudad, yacen ahora en los parques dándose al vicio y a las sustancias alucinógenas. Es bien sabido que la droga engendra crimen a su paso y eso hace que la policía esté más atareada que nunca.

El oficial Sonny Bonds es un protector de la ley modelo. Su inmaculado sentido del deber le ha hecho merecedor del respeto de sus compañeros y del propio Cuerpo, que le ha honrado al nominarle como Oficial del Año. Pero Sonny aún está intranquilo, pues en su amada ciudad el carcinoma que se burla de la justicia tiene un nombre: Death Angel; un peligroso narcotraficante que se zafa de la Autoridad una y otra vez sin que ésta pueda hacer nada para evitar que siga poniendo en las manos de los niños adictivos venenos. El agente Bonds no ve el día en que el camello caiga bajo el yugo de la Justicia y se pudra en prisión. Pero las víboras son muy escapadizas y esta en particular tiene una picadura especialmente mortífera.
