Descripción

El neurobiólogo Dr. David Styles es uno de los personajes principales del juego: desde que perdió a su esposa en un terrible accidente hace unos años, se ha convertido en un recluso, abandonando rara vez Dread Hill House, su casa en la campiña inglesa.

Una estudiante y artista callejera llamada Samantha Everett aparece en su puerta de manera inesperada, justo en el momento en el que Styles busca una nueva ayudante. Sam consigue el trabajo. Proveniente de América, ha estado viajando por Europa los dos últimos años. Su primera tarea será encontrar a seis voluntarios de la Universidad de Oxford para uno de los experimentos de Styles. El experimento comienza de una manera inocente, pero algunos sucesos inexplicables comienzan a ocurrir. Además, Styles recibe la visita de su querida, y difunta, esposa. Ahora le toca a Sam y al Dr. Styles resolver los misterios de Dread Hill House.

En Gray Matter, los jugadores controlan tanto al Dr. David Styles como a Samantha Everett en su intento por descubrir los secretos y encontrar la verdad. Gray Matter aborda cuestiones relativas a la naturaleza de la realidad y al poder de la mente humana para construir el mundo que nos rodea.
