His official retirement was questioned, however, and an elaborate home laboratory was rumored to have been constructed on his Zurich estate. No such lab was ever discovered. |

News reports of his exploits curiously failed to say how Edgar might have pulled off this impossible feat. |

Darwin | A mechanical bird, Darwin is perhaps the most advanced automaton ever constructed. Thomas built him as a companion for his later years.
