Descripción
Nos remontamos a 1976. En esta ocasión tomamos el rol de Michael Arthate, escritor novel privilegiado con la inmensa suerte de que las cuantiosas ventas de su primer libro le han permitido comprarse una impresionante mansión victoriana en Rothbury, pequeña población al norte de Inglaterra, ahí es nada. La mudanza, gestionada por su amigo Jerry, se realiza para que el autor, retirado del bullicio y ajetreo del día a día, pueda dar con un final apropiado para su próximo libro en un ambiente que, supuestamente, le pueda servir como fuente de inspiración.
Pero es precisamente en el momento en el que pone un pie en la mansión cuando comienzan a presentarse una serie de infortunios; sin luz eléctrica y en un completo aislamiento, nuestro protagonista va descubriendo el pasado tenebroso de la casa: los misteriosos acontecimientos y muertes acontecidos en torno a una familia, los Blackwood, que vivió en la misma casa 13 años atrás y unos inquietantes ruidos provenientes de los abismos de la mansión harán que nos olvidemos de nuestra novela, quedando ésta en un segundo plano, y que comencemos a investigar acerca de los terribles sucesos acontecidos en nuestra nueva propiedad y de la poderosa influencia ejercida por una antiquísima tribu africana sobre la maldición que, supuestamente, nos acecha.

Director's Cut
Esta nueva versión de Scratches tiene (como era de esperar) una incompatibilidad con Windows. Por alguna razón, una de las configuraciones predeterminadas del juego puede provocar un desagradable fallo en el sistema.
La solución es simplemente editar el archivo SCREAM.CFG con el Bloc de notas y cambiar el valor RATE 0 por RATE 60.
