Descripción
La historia de Myst es la historia de la casi extinguida civilización D'ni, cuyo poder consiste en crear mundos gracias a la Escritura Descriptiva, sólo conocida ya por Gehn, padre de Atrus, el último de los caballeros D'ni.
Los mundos se describen en libros especiales, los Kortee'nea, donde se incorporan las características deseadas, como sus tamaños físicos, sus soles y sus lunas, la composición de su suelo y sus océanos. La belleza de Myst consiste en que estas descripciones pueden ser someras, sintéticas, con la indeterminación y la brevedad de un haiku, o detalladas, llenas de matices, científicas.
La Era tratará de cumplirlas al pie de la letra, resolviendo las indeterminaciones y evolucionando con las leyes naturales de que haya sido dotado, lo que tal vez conducirá hacia el perfeccionamiento, al estancamiento perpetuo o hacia la destrucción. Cualquier contradicción producirá la desaparición inmediata de la Era y de sus habitantes.

- Existen dos versiones más de esta aventura: Myst: Masterpiece Edition, con mejoras gráficas y sonoras, y Real Myst, remake en 3D.
